In this webinar session, we will explore the key compliances required by LHDN to deploy e-Invoice. Aside from statutory compliance we shall also explore the implications and changes needed to internal processes in sales invoice generation and supplier invoice processing. Recently, Malaysia LHDN released an updated guideline document together with industry specific requirements on 29 September 2023. What we know extensive from the first guide was primarily focused on PROOF of INCOME – targeted at document issued whenever a sale or other transaction is made to recognize income.

In the latest updated guide, an expanded explanation focused on PROOF of EXPENSE has been provided. This relates to the following: “This type of document covers purchases made or other spending by taxpayers. It also includes returns and discounts. It can also be used to correct or subtract an income receipt in terms of the amounts documented.”

In addition, there are certain circumstances where taxpayers would have to issue self-billed e-Invoice to document an expense such as foreign transactions etc. Malaysia’s LHDN e-Invoice is not only primarily focused on one area which is invoices directed at customers but also transactions related to purchasing and expenses by taxpayers.
