KUALA LUMPUR: The government is studying the impact of potential disruptions in plastic raw material supply and its spillover effects on key industries, including the food and beverage sector, amid ongoing global supply chain uncertainties.
Unity government spokesman Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the issue had been discussed at the National Economic Action Council (MTEN), and the Economy Ministry and the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) have been tasked with carrying out detailed studies on the supply chain implications.
"Yes, the issue of raw material supply, including plastic, was discussed in the National Economic Action Council (NEAC) meeting yesterday, and several studies need to be conducted, including by the Ministry of Economy and MITI," he said at the post-cabinet weekly briefing today.
